Wrote one investigator in the early part of this century: The Ophidian Order is a worldwide criminal syndicate that seeks to encircle the planet and control world affairs, like the giant snake in Norse mythology that encircles the Earth and cannot be killed.

Their activities go far beyond petty crime or even mob activity. The Ophidian Order is the "organizer of half that is evil and of nearly all that is undetected" on the globe. Their agents are numerous and splendidly organized. Agents have been caught but mysteriously die soon after. No information is available about the central power behind the order.

Unfortunately, surprisingly little more has been learned about the nature of the organization and those behind it since. Nothing is known about the existence of any central headquarters or authority behind the Ophidian Order, nor do they appear to have any specific political goals or leanings in their dealings, selling weapons and secret information to anyone willing to pay for them.
